HISTORY OF FEDEGBO
Background of fedegbo
Fedegbo was an ancient settlement situated close to Ogbomoso but has today been swallowed up to become part of Ogbomoso in Oriire local government of Oyo state. Akintan was a prince of Fedegbo and had many brothers. As a result of succession dispute, he left his place of birth along with his wife, Moware and family to found a new settlement which he named Fedegbo, after his root. Moware was an indigene of Oyo.The new settlement shared borders with Egbado area and was in proximity to the border areas between Nigeria and republic of benin. Fedegbo enjoyed a bustling economic activities and served as a route for trans border trade. Majority of the population engaged in peasant farming. He had three children viz. Akinyemi, Akinhanmi and Abikanlu( female). Akinhanmi gave birth to Obayomi and Olaleye. Akinyemi gave birth to Ojo. Ojo had five children whose names were Ikudaisi, Ajayi Ogidiolu, Oladokun, Adesokan and Adekanmbi. Ojo was later invited, honoured and encouraged to move down to Igbo-Ora. He was honoured with the title of Olukotun of Igbo-Ora and also got married to a princess , Abayomi. That was the beginning of the movement of his Fedegbo family to Igbo-Ora. The descendants settled in what is today known as Baale Adeoye compound. However they still retained their farming activities and settlement in Fedegbo. In essence, it was the movement of Ojo that brought Fedegbo under Igbo-Ora. Subsequently, Ajayi Ogidiolu, the child he had in Igbo-Ora established a ruling dynasty and became the paramount ruler of the entire Igbo-Ora town.
